Through didactic presentations and the use of video-taped interviews of psychiatric patients, the participants will learn the key principles of symptom recognition / symptom verification and explore the clinical relevance to make a DSM-5/ICD 10 diagnosis. During the course the participants will be asked to rate recorded training videos and the symptom ratings and diagnosis will be discussed.

Structured Clinical Interviews such as the SCID (Structured Clinical Interview for the DSM-IV-TR or DSM-5) and M.I.N.I. The course will instruct the participants on the reliable use of these instruments in research studies and for clinical work with particular attention to disorders of Mood, Psychosis, Anxiety and Substance Use.

Under the moderation and supervision of the lecturer the contents are acquired, presented, extensively discussed, critically reflected, and evaluated. Teaching methods include lecturing, literature search, group work, discussions, case examples, issues of findings.

Regular written and/or oral contributions of participants.
