The development of skills and competencies, the acquisition the ability to independently analyze and present complex methodological and theoretical connections and question formulations grounded in concrete cases in point and to apply them within the framework of ones own research.

Much discussion has surrounded the Digital Humanities in the preceding decade, especially in the liberal arts. In the meantime, the digital humanities have displayed a certain tenacity as well as an ability to draw recognition from institutions. Numerous professorships and degree programmes have been established, which more or less distinguish themselves from the traditional liberal arts curriculum. Advocates of the Digital Humanities have thus far been outsiders within academic departments. The staying power of their methodology, projects and especially research results have yet been fully proven. This has mainly been on account of ingrained expectations about knowledge interests, research outlay and procedures, not to mention the appraisal of the usefullness and sustainibility of research outcomes. The course endeavours to critically introduce the Digital Humanities
