The students know different consulting approaches for different crisis situations. They have acquired the basics of conversation management and can apply them. Techniques of crisis and acute intervention and psychosocial support planning are the focus of the course and are familiar to the students.

The content of this course is to become familiar with differences and similarity of different types of crisis, such as critical life events, trauma and suicidal behaviour. The participants are supported to observe specific signs and stress symptoms. From a theoretical standpoint they are also introduced to a developmental approach to crisis. Suicidal behaviour and the effects of suicide on the bereaved are also part of this seminar. Diagnosis and assessment of risks are discussed, as are techniques for the acute situation and support for persons in crisis.
