+) the forms of domestic violence
+) the dynamics of violent relationships
+) psychological and somatic consequences of violence
+) the reasons for the difficulties of affected persons to accept offers of help
+) the stigmas and hurdles on the side of the counsellors
+) Basics of conducting conversations with persons affected by violence
In this course, students are taught the basics regarding the phenomenon of "domestic violence" and the resulting consequences for counselling situations with affected persons.
The different forms of domestic violence, the dynamics in violent relationships and the effects of experiencing violence on a psychological and also somatic level are presented. At the same time, myths about the emergence of domestic violence are critically discussed.
On the basis of these basics, the relationship design of affected persons of domestic violence is then presented and especially dealt with, why it is very difficult for these persons to recognize and subsequently accept corresponding offers of help.
Based on this, fundamental elements of counselling for affected persons are developed and tips for conducting conversations with this group of people are presented.
An important part of this course will also be the role of the counsellor. What are the consequences for the counselling process of being affected by the violence that has occurred? Which stigmata on the part of the affected persons and also on the part of the counsellor influence and complicate the counselling situation?
