summer semester 2022 | Last update: 14.09.2023 | Place course on memo listThe students know different theoretical approaches, current empirical findings and discussions on the topic of political socialization and citizenship; they are able to situate them in the research field. They are able to reflect on their relevance for political education in particular and the political dimension of pedagogical action in general.
The seminar introduces the research field of political socialization and its significance for political education and pedagogy in general. After an overview of the history of political socialization and central controversies regarding the emergence of political subjectivity and the intergenerational transmission and renegotiation of political attitudes, the seminar focuses on current developments: Questions of political participation, especially of young people, political radicalization, the exercise of and access to citizenship. A transnational perspective is adopted, which productively confronts findings in democratic and authoritarian or hybrid contexts.

- SDG 13 - Climate action: Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts by regulating emissions and promoting developments in renewable energy.
- SDG 16 - Peace, justice and strong institutions: Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels.
- SDG 17 - Partnerships for the goals: Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development.
