The students have acquired a methodological understanding of depth hermeneutic research. Concrete techniques and steps of depth hermeneutics, such as scenic understanding, interpreting in a depth hermeneutic interpretation group, and writing interpretation protocols are practiced on empirical material.  

With recourse to theories and methods of psychoanalytic social psychology, those phenomena can be opened up which hint at an unconscious dimension. This repertoire includes the reconstructive method of depth hermeneutics developed by Alfred Lorenzer, which can be considered an important milestone in the mediation of psychoanalysis and social science. The methodological procedures and methodological concepts of depth hermeneutics can also play an important role in educational science, especially when it comes to reconstructing affective dimensions of subjective life practices and modes of action. In the seminar, central epistemological aspects, concepts and procedures of depth hermeneutics will be introduced.
