Students can locate secular theologies in pop culture and reflect on them creatively and independently with a view to pastoral fields of practice.

Pop culture is a highly theologically inspiring place. The seminar explores contemporary songs and films to lift up their implicit, secular theologies. It is about discovering 'anonymous' Christian faith themes that have emigrated from the church and now re-emerge as 'feral' theological formats - but not about imputing semitheological or even quasi-church intentions to musicians and filmmakers. Instead, the seminar aims at a 'foreign-prophetic' provocation to one's own, at a rediscovery of possibly buried Christian forms of thought. This is then also aimed at a pop-cultural expansion of the theological aesthetics: U, not just E, everyday sound instead of high culture. Netflix as a meta-commentary on one's own existence. My soundtrack to life - a pastorally relevant 'locus theologicus'?

Pop cultural field soundings and creative discursivisation of the discovered in conversation with theological literature.
