In addition, they have specific knowledge in a current area of media practice (e.g. in the field of methods of visual communication, political communication or knowledge and scientific communication.
Imparting of current developments in media practice with a view to expanding media practice knowledge in a specific focus area.
The course is related to the Internat. Journalism Festival Innsbruck - International Days of Information, which will take place for the first time from May 13 to 15, 2022. The course director is co-founder of the festival. The festival is held in cooperation with editorial offices from Germany (including Die Zeit, SZ, taz, Le Monde Diplomatique), Austria (including Standard, Ö1, Falter, ORF-Tirol, Tiroler Tageszeitung), Switzerland (Reportagen, Bern) and Italy (Internazionale, Rome). The University of Innsbruck is also a partner. The LV deals with current developments in these media landscapes with a special focus on the media partners of the festival. The participation of students at the festival is desired, also a written reflection on it afterwards. The festival is primarily about journalistic expertise on current international issues, including challenges and obstacles to reporting.
Lecture (inputs by the teacher), oral contributions by the students (joint reflections on the aforementioned media landscapes and media), and practice at the festival with subsequent written work on it.

The minor “Media Practice” covering 30 ECTS-Credits can be selected by degree students of Master’s programmes at the University of Innsbruck, providing the relevant curriculum allows for the option to pass a minor.
