The seminar offers an insight into the perspective of "Rassimuskritik/criticism of racism", which will be learned as a technique of self-awareness and world reference.

"Rassismuskritik/Criticism of racism" is an attitude that is critical of oneself and society, "based on the conviction that it makes sense not to be dependent on racist forms of action, experience and thought in this way" (Mecheril / Melter 2010: 172)

We will begin by dealing with racism and the question how racism as a system of power structures our society and shapes us as individuals. At the same time we deal with the possibilities of criticism, resistance and the necessity of empowerment and power sharing.

Plenary discussions, readings, homeworks

Course with formative assessment, i.e., students are graded on the basis of written and/or oral tasks assigned regularly over the term. (Text reading, discussion participation, keynote speeches, scientific work)
