To introduce students to practices of film culture and film education

This course aims at familiarizing students with diverse practices of film culture and film education. In a series of workshops students will be introduced to (making their own) video essays, film analysis, writing film scripts, and curating film programs. We will work with film archives and explore innovative ways of using movies in the classroom.

This course is team-taught with Professor and screenwriter Adam Ganz (Royal Holloway University of London) who will be writer-in-residence at the University of Innsbruck in 2022.

Prerequisite for the Teacher Training Program: none

The course "Filmvermittlung" / "Film Culture and Film Education" (AG 5 ECTS) can be taken within the framework of the supplement "Filmwissenschaft" instead of "American Cinema, Media and Culture" (VO, 5 ECTS) or "Film as an artistic and social medium" (VU, 5 ECTS).
