Students have a critical knowledge of socially effective relations of difference, power and domination. They are able to analyze social relations of power and domination such as "gender", "class" and "race" in their interaction in relation to work(s).

The seminar ...
.... starts from the thesis that currently capitalist ways of living and producing are essential for how we understand, experience and live gender/sexuality. The way we name and perform gender/sexuality today is inextricably interwoven with capitalist division of labor, exploitation, and accumulation.
... asks now in what way (post)colonial, capitalist modes of production and living inscribe themselves in orders and norms of gender and sexuality: What is the connection between contemporary, (post/neo)colonial, patriarchal capitalist labor relations and consumption practices and gender/sexuality as dimensions of social existence? How do capitalist ways of living and producing affect which forms of gender/sexuality are livable, recognizable, and normative, and which are marginalized and rejected?
... takes its starting point with Black and queer Marxist-feminist debates of the 1970s. Based on this, it questions heteronormativity and bisexuality as well as constructions of queerness and transness with current perspectives of capitalism-critical, intersectional queer and trans studies.
.... aims to understand and critique gendered, sexual, and racist relations of power, exploitation, and domination in relations of production and reproduction in a global economy.
.... seeks to take a critical approach to power and domination. The instructor is gender:queer, trans female, middle class, and ableized passing, as well as white positioned.

Preparatory text reading at home, short podcasts by students, in the seminar inputs by the lecturer, as well as joint elaboration of (theoretical) perspectives and (empirical) analyses through discussions in plenary or small groups, possibly joint close reading and possibly co-presentations by students (will be explained in the first session).

Active participation in the seminar
Group work: creation of a short podcast (15-20min) for one session
Alone: essay (12,000-15,000 characters) on a perspective or phenomenon covered in the seminar or required reading
or individual reflection or reflection in pairs on one's own involvement in the context of gender/sexuality/capitalism on the basis of the theories in the seminar (will be explained in the first session).

Alternatively, co-presentation (7-12 min) on a text of the required reading in a seminar session.
