Students who have completed this course have an overview of the possible applications of scientific computing and its potential to provide interdisciplinary and efficient answers to current questions in research, economy and society. They are sensitized to gender issues and gender relations in the natural and technical sciences.
The course provides an overview of tasks, methods and tools of scientific computing. Numerous case studies from different application areas illustrate the potential of computer-based simulations. In addition to an insight into modern computer architectures, the course also teaches the principles of good scientific practice. Relevant gender issues are also discussed.
