Curr. § 6 (2) 2: Students know how to characterize and critically reflect the paradigms of classical sociology and apply them to issues of contemporary sociology.

The lecture gives an overview of the paradigms developed in the foundation phase of sociology, in particular the works of Max Weber, Emile Durkheim and Georg Simmel. Moreover, also lesser-known sociology approaches in their environment as well as the immediate prehistory of the development of sociology (e.g. Comte, Marx) are treated.
