Students acquire knowledge of methodological, conceptual and theoretical tools to analyze reproduction and change of inequality relations, lifestyles and forms of life in post-national and post-colonial constellations and with regard to different forms of violence and domination. This takes into account social classification and differentiation processes, the entanglement of various forms of discrimination with the gender dimension, as well as civil society self-organization processes and social movements.

In this course we deal with questions of inequality on different levels by looking at different subject areas through different theories. For this purpose, we will switch between disciplines (gender studies, sociology, human geography, development studies, etc.) and combine them in our theoretical and practical approaches.
We will address questions of gender, labor and capitalism at different levels and in different contexts.

Lectures, discussions and group work as well as self-study.

There are three exercises, all of which must be handed in (40%). The respective scope and work mode can be found in the lecture plan.

In addition, an essay on one of the topics is to be written, in which the learned contents are taken into account. The length is seven pages (60 %).

Possible submission dates: 01.02.2023; 15.02.2023; 01.03.2023.
