930008 Methodological Competence
winter semester 2022/2023 | Last update: 13.09.2022 | Place course on memo listThe students learn to plan and design their MA-thesis. They will acquire knowledge to handle research topics and transform them into research questions. They are able to plan a research design and to apply suitable research methods.
The students will develop a research design for their master thesis. This includes: embedding the thesis in the state of the art, developing a research question, acquiring knowledge on different research methods an choosing an appropriate method, planning and conducting the empirical study. In the seminar, methods will be reflected from a feminist and queer perspective. The seminar primarily focuses on qualitative methods.
It is important that the students who take part in the seminar already have some preliminary ideas on their MA-thesis!!
The seminar will use peer-feedback, so it is required to take part in the seminar continuously.
Input by instructor, discussion of research ideas, plans, methods; elaboration of research questions; presentation of results, feedback.

It is required that students already have some basic ideas on the topic, research question and research design. It is expected that the students have absolved compulsory module 5, that the MA-thesis is registered and that the students have a draft-version of their concept for the MA-thesis.
