The course of lectures presents and elaborates some of the most important themes of Christian spirituality: the human relation to God and Christian prayer or meditation, discernment, vocation, discipleship, accompaniment, the current theme of spiritual abuse, the world-orientation of Christian spirituality, and others.
The lectures aim at a systematic understanding. However, participants will also get to know the diversity of Christian spirituality. Criteria for the discernment of spirits will be developed.
Lectures, interpretation of texts, class room discussions.
Active class room participation, one paper, and written exam.
A list of recommended literature will be given in the first lecture. Geistbestimmtes Leben (22014) by Simon Peng-Keller is one of the books on this list.
