Learning Outcome:

To heighten students’ awareness of the lexical systems of English in everyday contexts and usage.

Contents:

Word formation, affixation, word borrowing (from Latin and Greek), word classes, countables and uncountables, homophones and homographs, phrasal verbs and collocations, idiomatic language, introduction to advanced lexis.

Methods:

A communicative, pragmatic approach to lexical usage in meaningful contexts in the classroom

Assessment:

Written final exam, mid-term exams and portfolio
