You have studied the most famous representatives of Eastern European rock and pop music, analyzed their artistic concept, traced the connections between literature and music, and learned about the respective historical context. As teacher trainees you have thought about how you could integrate music into your Russian lessons.

Did David Hasselhoff really bring down the Berlin Wall? Even if he himself denies it - the potentially subversive power of music cannot be completely dismissed. Music styles change over time, but whether it's rock'n'roll in the 1950s, the bards in the 1960s (Vysotskii, Okudzhava, Krýl, Niemen), psychedelic rock in the 1970s (The Plastic People of the Universe) or punk in the 1980s (Lady Pank) - they all protest the (political) establishment. Even superstars of Soviet pop like Estrada singer Alla Pugačeva can formulate protest. Certain forms survive all times, for example Viktor Tsoi's famous protest song "Khochu peremen" (1987) returned in the course of the protests against Aliaksandr Lukashenka in 2020. In the course of the seminar we will get to know various Eastern European bands and solo artists from the 20th and 21st century and examine their subversive potential.

Flipped classroom - students prepare texts in self-study and work on assignments; classroom times are exclusively for plenary discussions and to clarify open questions. Literary and theoretical texts are used as preparatory materials, as well as short video lectures if required.

Weekly texts and a term paper (essay)
