Ability to distinguish arguments from manipulative attempts at persuasion, and the ability to clearly present and justify our own views.

Our world is increasingly difficult to navigate when it comes to securing knowledge and reliable information. We are flooded with information, but the proportion of reliable information is shrinking dramatically. This class will provide some tools to help us navigate this complex and at times hostile informational landscape. Through a brief introduction to some aspects of human cognition (including cognitive biases), we will learn how to distinguish arguments from manipulative attempts at persuasion, how to clearly present and justify our own views.
