Henri Bergson (1859-1941) is regarded as one of the most important representatives of life-philosophy. It is a current of thought at the beginning of the 20th century, which Georg Simmel attempted to integrate into sociology. Their critique was directed against mechanistic conceptual and methodological basic assumptions in the humanities. A look into current sociology and philosophy suggests the ongoing relevance of life-philosophy. The seminar deals with one of its main works, Henri Bergson's Creative Evolution, for which he had received the nobel price for literature in 1929.
