The IFFI - International Film Festival Innsbruck will take place from 28.5. - 2.6.2024 for the 33rd time s and the fourth time under the directorship of Anna Ladinig. The IFFI is the largest film festival in Western Austria and gives visibility to films from regions and on topics that are underrepresented in global cinema networks. In addition to current films in the competitions, topics are also explored in more depth in the retrospective, which this year is Human-Environment Relations, More Than Human.
Theoretical-conceptual texts on film festivals are discussed as an introduction and then the topic of the retrospective is explored in depth. Students learn about film distribution, curating film programs, but also the inner workings of the festival through working at the info desk, guest relations, moderating, and writing articles for the homepage and social media channels (film reviews, interviews, etc.).
