Introduction to Didactics in Art Education

Learning Outcome:

Knowledge of various theories of current (and historical) art education. Students reflect and discuss critically different theoretical approaches and relate these to their own experiences in the classroom in art education. Students will be able to discuss consequences of different theoretical texts for the concrete teaching on the background of their school experience.

Contents:

In the seminar we will read selected texts on the theory of art education and discuss them. The selection is made in close cooperation with the participants. The texts are intended to cover a broad spectrum of current art education approaches. The focus is on the discourse in Austria, Switzerland und Germany.

Methods:

Each student prepares one session, in which we discuss the selected text.
