Module 16: French Literature, History and Society (7.5 ECTS-Credits, 4 h)
Prerequisites for registration: Positive completion of compulsory modules 3, 7 and 8.
Learning Outcome: Through the module "Litterature, histoire et société en France" the students are familiar with the various periods of French literary history with close attention to the main political and social developments. With special attention to all the genres, they have practised analytical and interpretational competences with examples which go back to the literary science competences acquired in the "Basics". Students are made aware of the dynamic relations between literature, politics and society and can make topics out of the meaning of literature for the collective memory and out of questions of national identity.
Module 17: Francophonia and its Literature (7.5 ECTS-Credits, 4 h)
Prerequisites for registration: Positive completion of compulsory module 16.
Learning Outcome: The students of the module "La Francophonie et ses littératures" know francophone literatures and cultures outsight France (particulary in the francophone countries Canada Algerien Marokko, Tunesien, Senegal, Kameroon, French Antilles and also francophone Europe: Switzerland and Belgium). They are familiar with questions of Post-Colonial problems, migration problems of cultural contexts and transfers and with the problems of identity and difference and they pay close attention to aspects relevant to cultural studies, contributing to a better understanding of francophone cultures.
Module 18: Literature and Cultural Perspectives (15 ECTS-Credits, 4 h)
Prerequisites for registration: Positive completion of compulsory module 16.
Learning Outcome: In the Module "Littérature et perspectives culturelles" students have acquired, for example, enhanced knowledge of French and/or francophone literature of the 20th and 21st centuries and dealt with current issues with attention to historic and social perspectives as well as with topics like literature and other arts, texts and music, literature and film. Through the reading list they are familiar with important works of the literary canon.
Students can complete the module in two successive semesters.
