Compulsory Module 1: Overview of Fields of Application and Research Approaches (10 ECTS-Credits, 4 h)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: The students understand important content-related concepts and theoretical references as well as the central fields of application of the sociology of law and crime. They are able to formulate their own topic-related research interests, justify them theoretically and evaluate their relevance in the research area. The specifics in the empirical research of law, crime and security are understood by the students and can be applied to their own research work.
Compulsory Module 2: Law and Society (10 ECTS-Credits, 4 h)

Learning Outcome: The students have specialised knowledge of central research approaches in sociological studies. They are able to reflect on selected theoretical and empirical issues in the sociology of law and analyse them in a reciprocal interweaving of theory and empiricism. They are able to independently and scientifically study social functions, the implementation practice and effects of law and legal institutes or institutions.
Compulsory Module 3: Sociology of Crime and Sociological Security Research (10 ECTS-Credits, 4 h)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: The students understand the topics of security and crime from a social studies perspective and can analyse the social constitution of deviance. They know the central theories of the sociology of crime and of the security society; in at least one topic area, they have a deeper understanding, so that related phenomena can be analysed in a theoretically well-founded manner.
