Elective module 1: The Literature and Language Area of Austria (10 ECTS-Credits, 6 h)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: Students are able to name interrelations of literary and cultural history with the example of representative authors, works and genres and are able to describe the processes of canonisation and reception. They can outline the interactions developments in society, literature and cultural history (e.g. gender-specific developments) and are able to independently analyse and interpret literary texts based on scientific standards, to recognise key topical areas in literary conveying (evaluation strategies, orchestration and brand formation) and to evaluate them. They are able to work independently and scientifically on a topic in a subarea of Germanic linguistics and discuss basic questions of the relationship between language, media and communication as well as apply basic methods of linguistic media and communication analysis.
Elective module 2: Slavonic Languages, Literatures and Cultures in Eastern, Central and South-Eastern Europe (10 ECTS-Credits, 6 h)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: Students are able to present and explain the history and developing tendencies of Slavonic languages, as well as important aspects of the history and cultures of East-/Central- and South-East Europe. Students are able to name and interpret applications of literary and cultural research. They are able to deal with specific tasks in literary and cultural work. Students are able to exemplary characterise cultures and societies of East, Central and South-East Europe. They are able to assess the media landscape in Russia, East, Central and South-East Europe and to use their knowledge for finding solutions to specific problems.
Elective module 3: Cultural Spaces in Music (10 ECTS-Credits, 4 h)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: The students have an advanced knowledge of music and music history. They have developed the ability to classify musical phenomena in terms of compositional history and to address the social as well as the cultural function of the music dealt with. They have become acquainted with music-making men and women and are able to classify concepts such as canon, memory and tradition and to translate them in depth into their own questions, which they can discuss and present in writing and orally.
Elective module 4: Classifications in Art (10 ECTS-Credits, 4 h)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: Students are able to grasp basic and individual historical problems of two-dimensional representation of three-dimensional reality and have the advanced competence to present and discuss them in oral and written form. They are able to grasp and examine the historical possibilities and dimensions of three-dimensional design and architecture as a built environment and have supplemented their acquired knowledge by means of the original works of art in situ as well as trained social skills that have led to an ability to work in a team.
Elective module 5: Historic Jurisdiction in Austria (10 ECTS-Credits, 5 h)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: The students have an overview knowledge of Austrian legal history. They know about fundamental questions and guidelines of Austrian constitutional, private and criminal law history, are able to embed these in their European context and describe the interrelationships of legal, societal, economic and social developments.
Elective module 6: Natural and Cultural Spaces (10 ECTS-Credits, 6 h)
Prerequisites for registration: none
Learning Outcome: Students know and are able to evaluate space-time dimensions of geography and selected neighbouring disciplines. Students possess knowledge of typical structures and processes in Austria and the Eastern Alps.
