Deeper knowledge of medieval history on the example of castles as material relicts and social space; Knowledge of new methods of the Material and Spatial Turn

Castles belong to the most impressive monuments of the Middle Ages. In recent years, medievalists have payed increased attention to material relicts and spaces and therefor castles as monuments as well as spaces for social life have gained renewed attention. Starting from these new approaches, in this class we will investigate selected castles of today’s North and South Tyrol. The class prepares the excursion which will lead to these selected castles.
