222002 VO Dogmatic Theology I: Christ in Dispute on Salvation and Truth
winter semester 2020/2021 | Last update: 30.11.2020 | Place course on memo listKnowledge and understanding of the teaching on the incarnation of God and its multifaceted implications for the Christian way of thinking and living.
In this lecture we will familiarize ourselves with the biblical, patristic and medieval roots of the Christian teaching on the incarnation of God and learn to assess later developments in the light of this sapiential tradition. To perform this task, we will develop a phenomenologically elaborated understanding of the christian doctrine of Christ as philosophical articulation of a spiritual, liturgical and ecclesial practice of thinking, and learn to reflect critically on the conflicts it provoked in the history of Christian learning and modern interpretations of these conflicts. Designed as a systematic approach to the theological and philosophical hub of Christian orthodoxy, this lecture will be the key to all my accompanying and following lectures. It will enable students to translate the theological heritage of the past into the context of our contemporary, post-confessional world.
