One's own examination of important concepts, methods, questions and theories  in the Philosophy of Media and Technology.

 

In this seminar we will critically examine contributions to the debates in the Philosophy of Media and Technology. We will do so not only by reading scientific literature but also by taking into account fiction (e.g. Shelly's "Frankenstein", Orwells "1984") and movies like "Blade Runner".

Topics include:

1. Transhumanism, Blade Runner

2. Robotics: Mary Shelley Frankenstein, sex robots

3. Machines as moral agents? Conceptions of autonomy, autonomous driving

4. Privacy and data protection, George Orwell 1984

5. Freedom of press, censorship, hate speech, misleading and false information (fake news)

6. Drones between military and civil application

7. Values in Design, sexism, and KI
