winter semester 2023/2024 | Last update: 19.05.2023 | Place course on memo listThe objective is to gain knowledge about media in Russia as well as about media in Russian outside of Russia and to obtain skills in media analysis.
The course focuses on media in today’s Russia (print media, radio, TV, internet media) and - since the Russian invasion in Ukraine - on media in Russian outside of Russia (i.e. media which have been banned right at the beginning of the war). The students obtain an overview of these media and learn to employ various methods of media analysis. In addition, they are encouraged to read / watch media in Russian as well as reports on Russia in German or English on their own.
Lectures, short presentations by the students, discussion of texts
Regular attendance, participation in class discussions, short presentations
Lists for further reading will be provided for each topic.
Recommended for the third year of studies; Knowledge of Russian at level B1 (UE Russisch III) is desireable but not obligatory.
