622008 PS Contemporary History: The medical faculty of the University of Innsbruck under National Socialism: research, medical care and political cooperation

Acquisition of basic knowledge and application of relevant methods aiding scientific research.
Today's Medical University was part of the University of Innsbruck as the Medical Faculty until the new millennium. Under National Socialism, doctors worked together with the NS (health)authorities at different levels, conducted research under ideologic signs, examined members of the Wehrmacht before they went to war and treated them in the reserve hospital, and at the same time were involved in medical crimes and were responsible for maintaining medical care for the civilian population.
Individual acquirement of a historical survey; oral presentations and handouts, research paper, discussion; internet search, exercises; teacher's lecture.
Course with continuous performance assessment: check of study of literature, attendance at all sessions, active participation in discussions, oral presentation and handout, research paper.
Guided research of pertinent literature will be part of the expected tasks.
Positive assessment of compulsory module 1. The respective proof ought to be produced until the end of October 2023.
